For Hexagon, the spin-off of its software business wasn’t just a corporate move. It was a chance to redefine what intelligence could look, feel, and sound like in the industrial technology market. Something clearer and more confident than the status quo. Because the world is drowning in information, but clarity is rare. Octave cuts through the noise to transform data into precise, actionable intelligence.
FutureBrand partnered with Hexagon to create a singular brand that would unite its vast suite of software products, collected over the years through a series of acquisitions. The name, Octave, (doubling in frequency, in music) signals scale — in outcomes, connections, growth. It’s a progression from ‘hex’ to ‘oct’ as a standalone entity that positions the company’s range as an advantage, both for the business and for clients. And it connects to the core brand idea: unleashing intelligence at scale.
That strategic concept inspired a brand system that leads with clarity, confidence, and control. From the dynamic logo that subtly references musical structure with its expanding, infinity-like form, to a crisp design system built to communicate with precision. The visual identity is grounded in black and graphite with RGB accents that cue code and Octave’s digital interfaces. Photography portrays real clients and their challenges, shifting perspectives from macro and micro, with a photo-reveal device that surfaces insights and mirrors Octave’s capabilities. Data visualization is editorial in style, using Octave’s custom typeface and subtle gradients. Icons, illustrations, and product identity bring order to complex workflows while speaking the same visual language.
Every element of Octave was intentionally crafted and designed to focus on what matters. Efficient visuals harmonize with the sharp, buzzword-free verbal identity and streamlined brand architecture that brings four distinct business units into a single, coherent experience. A bespoke sonic identity, created in collaboration with Sonicbrand and recorded by a live orchestra, adds dimension and depth to every interaction.
In product, communication, and environment, the system behaves like the technology itself: fast, focused, and adaptive. When Octave launched across markets, products, and global offices, it arrived with full presence. No hesitation. No ambiguity.
