Eyeing up customers

Retail Week, UK 30th July 2010

The first store for the 2012 Olympic Games was opened on Tuesday by London 2012 Sebastian Coe and Mayor of London Boris Johnson.

Located next to the Eurostar ticket office in London’s St Pancras International Station, it measures just 300 sq ft, but will expand to 5,000 sq ft as the event draws closer. The store, designed by a team led by Paul Bretherton, creative director of branded environments at design consultancy FutureBrand, features products such as ‘Two years to go’ mugs and soft toys in the shape of the one-eyed games mascot.

A 2012 Olympic Games concession also opened in John Lewis’ Oxford Street store on Tuesday.
